Reception focus 30.1.17

For the next two weeks in Reception we will be focussing on the traditional tale The Three Little Pigs. The children were given the choice of four traditional tales to learn about and this was the most popular, hence it has become our new focus.
The children will be learning to sequence the story and write a sentence for each part and also act out  the story using props and masks.

In Maths the children will be learning about symmetry and also making pictures of houses and pigs using 2D shapes.

In phonics, the children will be continuing to learn digraphs and beginning to join their handwriting. They will be focussing on th, sh and ng.

The Gingerbread Man fun in Reception!

The children in Reception have been busy thinking about the story of The Gingerbread Man for the last two weeks.
Everyone has had a great time planning, cooking and decorating their own Gingerbread Men which tasted delicious!
The children have also written some amazing sentences about what the animals in the story are doing, remembering to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
Well done to all of the Elephants, Zebras and Giraffes for all of their hard work!

Reception focus 4.1.17

Happy New Year to you all. May we, the Reception team wish you all the very best health for 2017.
Following on from our Christmas fun and our successful move to the new school, this week we will be focussing on settling the children into their new setting and thinking about what the children received at Christmas. The children will be writing a sentence about their time over the festive period and also recapping all of the new phonics, words and Maths we taught last term.

Enjoy the selection of photos from our festivities, and we look forward to a successful transition into our new build. Thank you for your continued support.
