This week in Reception we will continue to focus on our story 'Blue Penguin' by Petr Horacek.
In Literacy, the children will be re-read the story and receive a letter from the Blue Penguin this week. The Blue Penguin would like to make some new friends and will ask the children what adventures they could go on together. The children will then write a simple sentence about this, applying their phonics knowledge to their writing.
We focused on 'one more' in Maths last week and will be introducing 'one less' to the children this week.
In Phonics, we will introducing the term 'digraph' (two letters which make one sound) and we will be learning the 'qu 'and 'ch' this week. We will encourage the children to use the correct letter formation and write simple CVC words independently.
In Topic, we are following on from learning about Penguins and where they live last week. The children will have the chance to see what happens to ice, chocolate, wax and butter when it is heated up using either a hair dryer, hot water, a microwave and a flame. Hopefully this will mean lots of discussion in the classroom.
