Nursery Celebrate Australia Day

Our nursery children had lots of fun celebrating Australia Day. We were fortunate to have parents come in to talk to about how Australia compares with Great Britain. The children were very interested to hear about the animals that live in Australia and the different traditions and customs of the country. They enjoyed eating "Fairy Bread" (a traditional Australian food), made flags, boomerangs and learnt the songs 'Waltzing Matilda' and 'Kookaburra Sits In The Old Gum Tree'. Thank you to the parents who helped add extra fun and interest to our Australia Day celebrations.

Nursery Focus W/C 25/01

Last week in nursery, the children were looking at themselves as babies and discussing how they have changed. The children spoke about what they can do now that they could not do as a baby. The children enjoyed looking at their baby photos and then using mirrors painted a self-portrait. We also had a special visit from a baby.

This week, we will be talking about our homes and houses. We will be discussing where we live.

The children will be going on a shape hunt in the environment and will then use different shapes to construct their own house pictures.

The children will be reading 'The Three Little Pigs' as their focus.
